Community Support
Faith & Gratitude is honored to have received a generous donation from 12-year-old Georgia Denny-Greathouse.
Georgia was only 5 years old when she watched her mom go through the rigors of breast cancer treatment and subsequently battle endometrial cancer four years later. With her mother’s encouragement, she began journaling to help her process what she was feeling. The journaling morphed into thoughts of coping & comforting strategies that seemed to really help her. She thought if these strategies could help her, they too may help others.
So, Georgia, in her own words, together with her then 4th grade teacher, wrote and self-published the booklet, ‘When Mama Got Cancer’. Georgia decided to give a portion of her book sales to Faith & Gratitude – split between a monetary donation & books to be provided to newly diagnosed patients with young children. She chose Faith & Gratitude because of how much the organization helped her mom.
Then, as if that wasn’t enough, the karate studio where she attends raised money for a family associated with a cancer diagnosis. After the studio read ‘When Mama Got Cancer’, they decided to give the monies raised to Georgia for her cause….and her cause is Faith & Gratitude.
We are inspired by Georgia’s young philanthropic mindset and grateful to be the recipient of her generosity – both booklets & a monetary donation of $1,169. Thank you, Georgia!

December 30, 2021 | Faith & Gratitude was honored to be awarded a $7,500 grant from the FirstEnergy Foundation to support our Cancer Resource Guides for the 2022 program year. For more than a century, FirstEnergy and their predecessor companies have been committed to improving the quality of life in the communities they serve. The Foundation’s contributions to local nonprofits are funded solely by FirstEnergy.
Faith & Gratitude was also the grateful recipient of a $6,500 grant from the Brookstone Foundation through the PNC Charitable Trusts Grant Review Committee. The committee’s mission is to support communities by advancing causes that their individual donors believe in. This award will significantly help to support our Cancer Wellness Events and new Cancer Wellness Series in 2022.
We are very blessed to have these grants as we begin our new year. Thank you FirstEnergy Foundation & the Brookstone Foundation!
